Our wait is finally up...we closed on our first home on May 30th! Thankfully, we don't have to be out of our apartment until close to the end of June, so instead of moving in we decided to do some work to make the house "our own".
Brendan began right away in our bedroom scraping off the "popcorn" ceiling texture that people used to love but now consider an eyesore. We knew it would be a big project, but it is definitely taking a lot of time for Brendan (not me) to patch up, sand, and clean up the now "flat" ceilings. But...he has been able to get three rooms done, with one more to go. He has had some great help and advice from guys that go to Southbridge Fellowship, our church in Raleigh. I have also added my own mark to our house...I got to paint a room for the first time last weekend. Not that exciting if you've done it before, but my body, arms especially, are so sore...I really feel like I've accomplished something!
We still have plenty more to do (not counting moving in!) over the next two weeks. At times, I've gotten really stressed and wondered how we are possibly going to get it all done...then I'm reminded that it's not worth worrying about - God is in control..no matter how much I try to control things myself, I somehow don't do nearly as good a job as He does! I am just reminding myself of that daily - that His plans are greater than mine, even if that means living in our house with boxes unpacked and walls yet to be painted. So, our blog has begun...we hope you check back often to see what God is doing in our lives. It's quite an adventure following Him...He'll take you to places you never imagined!
